Civic Life & Faith: Faith in Action, facilitated by Kellie Sanders

What does our Christian faith have to do with how we live as neighbors, participate in our communities, navigate political differences, speak about difficult issues, and work for the common good? "Civic Life & Faith: Faith in Action" is a six-week opportunity to explore these questions together. Building on themes from our first Civic Life & Faith study and the ELCA’s new Faith and Civic Life: Seeking the Well-Being of All social statement, we will move from conversation toward faithful action. Together we will explore Christian perspectives on the common good, power and politics, truth and misinformation, advocacy and justice, courageous disagreement, and what it means to live out our baptismal calling in the civic life of our communities. Through Scripture, short videos, conversation, reflection, and practical activities, we will consider one central question: “What does love of neighbor look like here?”

Everyone is welcome! You do not need to have participated in the first Civic Life & Faith course to fully engage in this six-week experience. Each session will provide the background and context needed for newcomers, while those who participated in the first course will have opportunities to build on and deepen their previous learning. This course doesn't tell you what political position to hold, instead, it's an invitation to listen, learn, ask thoughtful questions, practice faithful discernment, and discover how our faith can shape the way we live and serve in the world.
