We now have two small quilts hanging at the front of the sanctuary.  Here are a few words of explanation from the lady who made these quilts and details about the quilting group.

My name is Ronda Hatfield. My husband Hal and I moved to Clarkdale about 18 months ago, we joined in the Spirit of Joy soon after. 

The heart and cross quilt was the first one I made, I designed the quilt from a small pin that was given to the Joyful quilters by Lutheran world relief. I made it to hang in our sewing room but it was soon adopted by the congregation to hang in honor of our work for LWR.

Then we thought it would be nice to be able to change the quilts for the seasons. I made a cross, bird and daffodil quilt for Easter.  Easter has come and gone and It felt like it was again time for a change. I collect fabrics and have been quilting for over 30 years. The panel with the trees caught my eye along with the bible verse about finding our path. It seemed very appropriate as we prayed about finding a new Pastor. The pebble fabric at the bottom created a visual for the path. 

I cut out birds, butterflies and the little squirrel from other fabrics to create a pleasant pathway. I love playing with fabrics, the colors and textures. Other wall quilts are in the works.

Joyful Crafters Meet every Friday morning from 9 to 11. Our sewing room is at the back gate. All crafters are welcome. Earlier this year we have 93 quilts so far to donate to Lutheran world relief.

Our Quilt Sunday blessing will take place in October. We also work on items for Taste of Christmas, craft and bake sale in early December. The proceeds help pay for Batting for our quilts along with other projects sponsored by WELCA (Women of the ELCA).
