 Dear SOJ Member and Friend of SOJ,

 WANT TO DO A COOL THING THIS SUMMER?  SIGN UP ON THE PECULIAR TREASURES BIBLE CLASS SIGN-UP SHEET IN THE NARTHEX!  WHY?

 As the author Frederick Buechner writes: “What struck me more than anything else as I reacquainted myself with this remarkable rag-bag of people was both their extraordinary aliveness and their power to make me feel somehow more alive myself for having known them.”

 It will be a six-week class being offered on the book “PECULIAR TREASURES:  A BIBLICAL WHO’S WHO by Frederick Buechner starting on the Tuesday of July 7 and ending on the Tuesday of August 11—all at 10 am in Bible Study 1 on our SOJ campus.  I’m placing no limit on the size of this class.  If we can’t fit comfortably in BS 1, we will find another place on our SOJ campus.

 It will be a fun class as the author writes in up-to-date language and often with a sense of humoHis daughter Katherine as artist of these Peculiar Treasures adds another interesting dimension.  It’s a light study yet deep in that it will elicit lots of emotions about so many biblical characters in the bible—some we know, others we don’t know at all, and others are familiar but we really don’t know much about them and wonder why they are in the bible at all.

 If you can’t come every week, come when you can as different biblical characters will be discussed each week.

 I recommend that you purchase the book on Amazon because it’s a book that never grows old!  I’ve had mine for over 30 years and it’s as alive to me today as it was when I purchased it.  However, if you choose not to buy the book, print outs of the characters discussed will be available in each class.

I GUARANTEE YOU IT WILL BE A COOL CLASS IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER!
